Before Van Williams played Britt Reid it was an actor named Michael Lipton. Unbroadcast test episode of The Green Hornet. These types of episodes were made to show the networks what the TV series would look like if they approve a full-blown series. The villain actor who plays Mr. Smith in this screen test was also in the original pilot of the Adventures of Superman with George Reeves (rip) who shot one of the little people with a rifle in "The Unknown People" who also plays a villain in True Grit with John Wayne who shot Matty Ross's father.
