Jim Gordon struggleds to protect Leslie Thompkins while he and Harvey Bullock look into the serial murderer known as The Ogre, finally finding a years-old connection that brought them closer to the identity of the killer -- but not before The Ogre found Barbara Kean.
While planning to seduce and murder her, realized that not only is she not Gordon's girlfriend anymore -- but they're more alike than he could have suspected. He leaves her be -- but not for long.xxxxxBruce tells Selina that she crossed a line he never will when she killed Reg, but she says she would do it again and doesn't feel sorry. She warns him that he can never tell anyone, even Alfred, what she's done.
After trying to contract the murder of Don Maroni and his top lieutenants, Oswald is visited by those very men in his nightclub. After a night of drinking and quietly menacing The Penguin, Maroni reveals to Mrs. Kapelput what her son really does for a living, and that he has killed a number of men, including his friend Frankie Carbone.
The Ogre, Barbara, Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle all attended a fancy charity ball sponsored by Wayne Enterprises; Selina and Bruce were there to pick the pocket of the man who tried to have them killed, so that they could get a key to the safe in his office and discover what he's hiding.
When a plastic surgeon who operated on a hideous young man a decade ago provides a key piece of information, Gordon strikes out to find The Ogre, armed with a sketch...which Selina identifies as the man who brought Barbara home from the party.xxxxAfter discovering that one of the police officers is not only dating his beloved Miss Kringle, but has been hitting her, Eddie Nigma waits outside of her home until her boyfriend comes home, and then stabs him to death in the street outside.
At The Ogre's fancy apartment, Babara wonders what's in the room where he'd previously killed a girl in last week's episode. He walks her inside and as they look around together, the episode ends.
