CAPTAIN CARROT AND HIS AMAZING ZOO CREW[]

From the creator on why there isn't a cartoon:[]

Zoo Crew Issue 15

People often ask me why CAPTAIN CARROT AND HIS AMAZING ZOO CREW has never been adapted to animation. Here's the sad reason why:

CCAHAZC! was originally CREATED to be a cartoon show. DC wanted a comic that would be perfect for a SatAM show and Roy Thomas and I delivered the goods. In fact, I got the gig mainly because I was already working in animation, at the time, at Hanna-Barbera. Ruby-Spears licensed them two years in a row because ABC was quite interested but it never happened. Roy and I both got nice checks, too. But everything's changed. Because Roy and I (and Gerry Conway, due to the deal between him and Roy) own 20% of the property. Warner Bros. has used our characters in many ways and owes us $$$, not much but some. Warner Bros. now has its own animation studio, their own channels, and a huge cadre of lawyers, and has the attitude that if they don't get 100% of the profits, that money is being stolen from them. The few times I've spoken to anyone at DC about the cash they owe me, I've been told, "Well, it wouldn't be very much" as if that's an answer. They keep "creating" alternate versions of CC as a legal dodge to eliminate our contributions, but they never "take" because no one there knows how to do funny stuff. It's ALL grim, now. WB has repeatedly screwed Roy and I.
