SPIDER-MAN FAMILY IN THE MEDIA
Venom was a proposed spin-off film in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movie trilogy. It was to feature the character of Venom as the main character.
PLOT by Spider-Man Films Wiki[]
Little is known about the supposed plotline of the film. Apparently Venom would have been portrayed as an antihero and that the villain Carnage was apparently supposed to be the film's antagonist.
It was also unknown if Eddie Brock would return as the symbiote's host. His fate in Spider-Man 3 was ambiguous although suggestive that he perished. This left the possibilty open for other symbiote hosts such as Flash Thompson, who featured in both Spider-Man and Spider-Man 3 or another of the comic book characters who had not been part of the continuity up until that stage such as Ann Weying, Patricia Robertson, Angelo Fortunato or Mac Gargan/Scorpion.
PRODUCTION by Spider-Man Films Wiki[]
Eddie Brock and the alien symbiote fate were never completely revealed, many thought Venom could return in a future film. Spider-Man 3 producer Avi Arad revealed a Venom spin-off film was in the works in July 2007. Jacob Aaron Estes was commissioned to write a script, but it was rejected the following year. In September 2008, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese signed on to write the film. Reese later revealed that they had written two drafts for the film and that the studio was pushing the film forward. In 2009, Gary Ross, who was then rewriting the latest draft of the unproduced Spider-Man 4, was assigned to rewrite the Venom script and direct the movie, in which Venom would be an anti-hero rather than a supervillain.
Venom was ultimately cancelled after Spider-Man 4 was scrapped in 2010. In June 2012, a new Venom movie was being considered as part of Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot and is to be directed by Avi Arad. It is unknown if Topher Grace will be involved in the film in any capacity.
